This week’s athlete of the week is water polo player Savannah Fletcher. Fletcher was named the co-MVP of her team and the Marmonte League this season. Her team earned first place in Ventura County, in the CIF finals, and at the all-team tournament in Irvine, Calif.
Fletcher, a Malibu resident, is a senior at Agoura High School. She will go on to play water polo at the University of Southern California, the reigning NCAA champions. She has been named an All American Scholar Athlete for the past two years.
During her junior year she was named the MVP of her team and the Ventura County player of the year.
Fletcher started playing water polo when she was 10 years old and played for local youth teams. She became interested in the sport after she saw a group of boys playing at the Malibu pool and loved the way the game looked.
When she’s not playing water polo, Fletcher enjoys surfing and working out.
Her favorite movie is “The Hangover.”
