Stop foolin’ on the septics

Mayor Andy Stern recently stated that it was “sexy” for the environmentalists to sue the city. There is nothing “sexy” about the polluted waters off world-famous Malibu Surfrider Beach, which has been alleged to cause illness and death.

The city is being sued by environmentalists because City Council members Sharon Barovsky, Andy Stern and John Sibert intentionally mislead and misinform the community about efforts to clean up this pollution.

In reality, nothing has changed in this area in the past 10 years, despite the fact that these leaders have known all along what needs to be done (Lagoon Task Force 2001 recommendations). They have refused to do it. They’ll tell you that it was because of them that the Chili Cook-Off property was acquired to clean up the waters. But ask: What about the polluted water?

The “state-of-the-art” septic system at the new Malibu Lumber Yard mall has continued to fail since April. It, along with the Malibu Country Mart and the Cross Creek Shopping Center, continue to pollute the waters in the Civic Center area.

Mr. Mayor, you can fool some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time.
