OK, now I get it. City council okays nearly $100,000 for yet another redesign of Trancas Park, when a perfectly fine plan already exists, but is dismissed by the Stern/Barovsky/Sibert troika because they felt left out of the process.
Seems criminal to spend this kind of money when the economy is falling apart, as the one sane member of the council, Pam Conley Ulich, pointed out at the last meeting. Apparently being fiscally responsible is the real crime, judging from Barovsky’s reply: “Do you want to fight about it?”
All became clear when I saw the L.A. Times article about the increasing homelessness due to layoffs and foreclosures. The council knew what they were doing, after all. The millions spent on the park won’t be wasted. When the dogs aren’t using it, the newly homeless families can sleep there.
Brilliant!
