Letter: ‘No’ on M

County and state officials are just champing at the bit to reach into our pockets for more revenue to fund so-called road and civil projects, which we’ve given more than enough money toward already. But, they keep coming back to the well thinking we won’t notice or remember.

For years (decades really), we’ve been paying the highest gas tax in the nation. The purpose of which was (and is) to maintain our roads and fund associated transportation needs, when in reality, that money has been both squandered on unrelated nonsense, and used to prop up the outrageous pension liabilities (entitlements) for retired public employees and politicians — another mismanaged and reckless program that’s been draining our budget(s) for years, while other issues more important and much more vital to most of us (like our broken roads) continue to be ignored.

Well, it is close to Halloween, so the timing is perfect. This is just another scary trick in disguise. Too bad we’ve seen this costume before.

Absolutely “No” on Measure M. No new taxes! Maybe they should try to better manage the taxes we’ve already been paying.
