Our Lady of Malibu School hosted its annual pumpkin contest and Halloween celebration on Friday morning. Children decorated and carved pumpkins, which were on display in the courtyard all morning. Parents, family and friends watched as students strutted around with their class in a costume parade. Prizes were given out in each grade for best decorated pumpkin with a grand prize award for the most creative pumpkin in the school going to eighth-grader Jillian Neuner for her carved apple. People marveled at the detailed and imaginative pumpkins, such as a gum ball machine, a wedding cake, spooky airlines, creepy carousel, a penguin pumpkin and more. Ice cream parties were awarded to the kindergarten class for having 100% participation and to the fourth and fifth grade class, who tied for overall most creative. The festivities also included a family picnic.
