Wind-blown poppies nod
Golden obeisance to the
Vernal Equinox
Summer blossoms lure
Iridescent hummingbirds
And fat bumblebees
Board-astride surfers
In the Autumn morning chill
Looking out to sea
Crashing Winter waves
Gather surf-rounded pebbles
In neatly spaced piles
Gliding pelicans
Skimming white-capped ocean swells
Defy gravity
Frolicking porpoise
Surfing inside shore-bound waves
Make it look easy
The sound of the surf
Like summer-days reveries
Lulls one into sleep
Dense fog snakes into
Low-lying coastal canyons
Muffling every sound
The Red-tailed hawk soars
And rides the hillside updrafts
Searching for his prey
From coastal ridges
Glory in the grand vistas
The Chumash treasured
Cheddar August moon
Rising from the South Bay curve
Fills the heart with joy
In-transit wildfowl
Stop for a respite in the
Malibu Lagoon
Timid deer forage
In verdant coastal canyons
With their newborn fawns
Wide frontal passage
Reflecting sunset colors
Has a hint of rain
