Malibu High School will host its first-ever girls basketball tournament, Dec. 8-11. Eight prep teams from Southern California schools will come to the MHS gymnasiums to play in the “Battle by the Beach.” The tournament will begin when the MHS Sharks host Santee High of Los Angeles at 4 p.m. on Dec. 8.

Participants in the tournament include three public high school teams and five private high school teams from six different leagues.

The MHS team features three returning starters from last year’s 8-14 team, all juniors, including two-time All-Frontier League center Kendall Jordan, guard/forward Nina Hungerland who was named to the All-Frontier League last year, and guard Gianna Chaisson, who received an honorable mention in the All-League last year.
