Malibu native Kim Hillman Simon was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Colorado College, her alma mater, Sept. 5 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Colorado College Alumni Honorary Degrees are given in recognition of distinguished accomplishment and as a way to exemplify the successful application of a liberal arts education from the college.
Simon, as managing director for the USC Shoah Foundation Institute, has spent the last 17 years collecting and coordinating interviews with Holocaust survivors. She also manages the institute’s educational programs, research, documentation activity, public outreach and admissions.
Simon was one of three Colorado College alumni awarded with an Honorary Degree this year. She received a Bachelor of Arts in history with honors from the university during her time as an undergraduate. She was born and raised in Malibu.
