The Planning Department community meeting on Dec. 13, regarding a Formula Business Ordinance, was extremely well run and productive. It addressed the necessary categories needed for discussion pertaining to the actual writing of a Formula Business Ordinance.

For nearly two years, Joyce Parker-Bozylinkski and Joseph Smith, of the Planning Department, have conducted an extensive and ongoing job of gathering community input for this proposed ordinance including: Zoraces meetings, community town halls, a public independent business seminar, City Council meetings, resident meetings with staff, conference calls and have worked tirelessly with residents to educate, inform and gather input. Thousands of residents have spoken out, rallied, signed petitions and letters to protect community needs and our independent businesses. The next city council meeting, for additional citizen input, is proposed for Jan. 22.

We thank not only our Malibu Planning Department, but Pepperdine University, which was instrumental in leading the polling and formatting a very successful night of information gathering.
