Letter: Reject violent entertainment

Sometimes we feel so helpless, as in the tragedy in Connecticut. Although I am an advocate of an assault weapons ban there is little I can do but contact politicians.

However, there is something that we as responsible adults can do which may be more effective in the long run in stopping gun violence. Stop buying and allowing your children to play violent video games or allowing your children to attend violent movies. We cannot stop the video companies from producing their games or movie-makers from producing their movies, as that would be infringing on freedom of speech, but we do not have to expose our children to such unnecessary violence.
