Update, 2:50 p.m.: A team from Los Angeles County Public Works could remain on scene in Malibu to reroute a leaking water main until as late as midnight, according to Los Angeles County Public Works officials.

The No. 2 westbound lane of Pacific Coast Highway has been blocked from Malibu Inn to Serra Retreat since 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Crews restored water service to the Adamson House earlier today but discovered another leak in an existing line and are now working on a reroute for it.

“It looks like the work is going to be more extensive than we thought,” Public Works spokesman Kerjon Lee said.

Early estimates indicated Public Works would complete work by 4:30 p.m.

Original post: A water main break has shut down one westbound lane of Pacific Coast Highway in front of Serra Retreat, according to Public Works officials.

The water main break was reported at 8 a.m. Wednesday and is expected to have crews working on scene until 4:30 p.m. Officials said the broken line affects one customer — the Adamson House.

“They’re still doing excavation at this point and we don’t know exactly what the fix is going to be or what the scope of the repair is,” Public Works spokesperson Kerjon Lee said.
