Local author Katie Arnoldi’s new novel “The Wentworths,” a tale of a disturbing Westside family, sits at the top of this month’s fiction list, beating out new work from some other, more nationally known literary authors: Jhumpa Lahiri, Alexander McCall Smith, Joyce Carol Oates and Richard Price. Malibu’s One Book, One City read, “California Poetry,” also made the list. For nonfiction, David Rensin’s new book on surfer Miki Dora, “All for a Few Perfect Waves,” is number one, with two straight-out-of-the-gate bestsellers, “The Last Lecture” and Maria Shriver’s “Just Who Will You Be?,” following close behind. For children’s books, the grand finale of one of the best series around, “The Five Ancestors,” has just come out: “Eagle.”
