Thank you for shedding a bright light on Waterworks District 29 and their proposal for upgrades in the Malibu and Topanga area.

Our organization, in existence for over 54 years with a membership of over 450 residents, has been watching this issue very closely. Our representatives attended the three informational meetings that were held in Topanga and Malibu.

We agree with Kim Lamorie, president of the Las Virgenes Homeowners Federation, that safety and quality of life are the No. 1 priority for all of us in the Santa Monica Mountains. The inference that Malibu is an isolated community and the federation is an outside group is false, and is only aimed at dividing our mountain and coastal communities. There is no wall surrounding Malibu. We are all part of the Santa Monica Mountains, governed by the three land use plans in place, and should always be viewed that way. We here in Topanga certainly do.

In our observation of those meetings, we witnessed the over abundance of representatives from both the real estate and construction industry of which Mr Grisanti, as stated, represents. Upon further research we see that the proposal in question makes the potential for further build – out of vacant parcels of land are quite high. This fact is being obscured behind false claims of fire safety precautions. A study of the maps that were presented clearly demonstrates this fact. We eagerly await the release of the EIR and its findings
