Out of six schools competing at Tecolote Shores North Park meet in Mission Bay, Pepperdine men placed third and the women placed fourth.

Sophomore Nick Heath had yet another first-place finish in the West Coast Conference Preview, putting him at two-for-two this season. The Scotts Valley, Calif., native completed the 8K cross country course in just over 25 minutes, claiming the first place spot 15 seconds before the next competitor.

Pepperdine coach Robert Radnotti praised Nick’s performance and said it had been a great day for the entire team.

“Nick won the men’s race in exciting fashion once again. He’s getting stronger and stronger and it’s really neat to see what he’s been able to do,” Radnotti said in a statement provided by the school.

Pepperdine senior Lindsay Sheaffer helped the women’s team beat WCC rival Pacific after finishing eighth in a 6K with a time of 22:39.

“Lindsay ran in the lead pack for much of the race, and we asked her to do that to push herself as she tries to make the breakthrough from being a middle distance runner to a cross country runner, and she’s really making progress,” Radnotti added.

Both the men’s and women’s teams are gearing up for the WCC Championships October 28.
