Local Student Graduates from CSUN at 16

Benjamin Krasner

Malibu resident and 2012 Malibu Times Dolphin Award winner Benjamin Krasner recently graduated from Cal State Northridge at age 16 with bachelor’s degrees in economics and music performance.

Krasner attended Juan Cabrillo Elementary and Malibu Middle schools before being accepted to Pierce College as a full-time honor student at age 12. He transferred to Northridge at age 14 to complete his degrees.

After getting accepted to many conservatories, Krasner chose to attend Yale University to pursue his master’s in piano performance with a full scholarship under professor Boris Berman. 

Krasner has put on winning performances at several music competitions, including the LA International Liszt Competition, the New West Symphony Quick Bowman Competition, the Southwestern Festival, the Telluride Jazz Festival and the International Young Musician Competition. He was the recipient of the 2011 Malibu Classical Music Award and performs solo concerts for charity.Â
