Malibu Community Alliance to Host An Evening Under the Stars

The Malibu Community Alliance (MCA) is hosting an evening under the stars on Thurs., Dec. 12, to benefit the International Dark-Sky Association (IDA) in its fight against light pollution.

The evening will begin at the Sunset Restaurant at 7 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. It will also feature music and telescopes for stargazing.

Special guests include Bob Parks, executive director of the IDA, Jim Benya, a professional lighting designer and co-creator of the IDA/IES Model Lighting Ordinance, and Deborah Burnett, an internationally recognized authority on light, health and wellness.

The minimum contribution for attendance is $150 per person. There will also be a raffle with a grand prize of a Celestron telescope.

The International Dark-Sky Association is a nonprofit fighting to stop light pollution, cut energy waste and protect wildlife, according to the IDA website.
