Weekly lane closures on Pacific Coast Highway and Topanga Canyon Boulevard for Palisades Fire recovery work

Overnight Southern California Edison work scheduled near Las Flores Canyon Road; daytime traffic controls continue on SR-27
Motorists traveling through Malibu and Pacific Palisades should prepare for intermittent lane closures and reduced speed limits next week as crews continue Palisades Fire recovery efforts along Pacific Coast Highway and Topanga Canyon Boulevard.
The latest construction schedule covers Aug. 2 through Aug. 9 and includes utility work, roadway repairs, retaining wall reconstruction, and pavement rehabilitation. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time, remain alert in active work zones, and consider alternate routes during peak construction periods.

Pacific Coast Highway
Along Pacific Coast Highway between Temescal Canyon Road in Pacific Palisades and Carbon Beach Terrace in Malibu, reduced speed limits remain in effect.
The speed limit is 35 mph between Temescal Canyon Road and Sunset Boulevard, while the stretch from Sunset Boulevard to Carbon Beach Terrace continues to operate as an active construction zone with 25 mph speed limits and intermittent single-lane closures.
One of the most significant closures will occur overnight Sunday, Aug. 2, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, when Southern California Edison (SCE) crews reduce the northbound lanes to a single lane for approximately one mile near the Las Flores Canyon Road intersection.
Additional work scheduled along PCH includes:
Las Flores Creek cleanup, drainage improvements and slope repairs between Las Flores Canyon Road and Sunset Boulevard. Weekday lane closures may occur between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. as needed. The right-turn lane from PCH onto Rambla Pacifico Street remains closed, although motorists may still turn using the through lane.
Retaining wall reconstruction between Pena Road and Tuna Canyon Road may reduce southbound traffic to one lane between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. as needed.
Shoulder work by SCE at the Tuna Canyon Road intersection is scheduled for Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. No lane closures are planned, but drivers should slow for workers and cone zones.
Verizon utility work near the SR-27 intersection will reduce PCH to one lane in both directions Tuesday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., and again Monday and Wednesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
K-rail installation just south of SR-27 will reduce southbound traffic to one lane Monday night from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday.
A second K-rail installation south of Coastline Drive will reduce southbound traffic to one lane Thursday night from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday.
In addition to these scheduled projects, Caltrans notes that single-lane closures may be established at any time between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays throughout the corridor as crews respond to ongoing recovery work.
Topanga Canyon Boulevard (SR-27)
On Monday, Aug. 3, motorists traveling on Topanga Canyon Boulevard (SR-27) between the bridge near postmile 2.0 and just south of Grand View Drive should expect intermittent one-lane traffic control from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Flaggers will direct alternating traffic while crews remove K-rail barriers at three separate locations.
Only one work area will be active at a time, with signs posted to alert motorists.
A separate Caltrans work zone between postmiles 2.5 and 2.8 remains in effect with a 15 mph speed limit.
Later in the week, pavement rehabilitation work will require one-lane traffic control from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, through 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, between Cezanne Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway.
Drive With Caution
Officials remind drivers that construction schedules are weather permitting and subject to change. Motorists should remain attentive, especially around blind curves and active work zones, where traffic may slow unexpectedly.
Drivers are encouraged to reduce speed, follow posted signs, and be aware that traffic fines can be doubled in highway work zones. Those traveling through the area should plan for possible delays and use alternate routes when practical.
