Emergency crews responded to a serious rollover crash Friday morning after a Tesla reportedly went approximately 300 feet over the side of Mulholland Highway.
According to authorities, the incident occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. when first responders from Malibu Search and Rescue, the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the California Highway Patrol, and McCormick Ambulance were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, rescuers discovered the male driver had managed to escape the vehicle and was outside yelling for help. A female passenger remained trapped inside the Tesla and required rescue efforts to free her from the wreckage.
Both occupants survived the crash and sustained what officials described as moderate injuries. Due to the remote and steep terrain, both patients were airlifted by helicopter to a nearby trauma center for treatment.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
Traffic in the area was impacted while emergency personnel conducted rescue operations along the hillside.
No additional information has been released at this time regarding the identities or conditions of the victims.
