One killed in reported crash into parked car on PCH near Carbon Beach

One person was killed in a traffic collision on Pacific Coast Highway near Carbon Beach, on Saturday, Oct. 3, prompting lane closures in both directions east of Malibu Pier.

It has been reported that an SUV driven by a young boy crossed into the parking lane and struck a parked passenger car from behind. The report described the victim as a restaurant worker who was asleep in the car while waiting for his shift to begin. Those details have not been independently confirmed by The Malibu Times. The City of Malibu issued an alert at 11:33 a.m. confirming a fatal collision approximately half a mile east of the pier and lane closures in both directions.

The city urged motorists to avoid the area, use alternate routes when possible and exercise caution on narrow canyon roads. Its alert did not provide an estimated reopening time.

Updates are available through the City of Malibu’s traffic alert.

The Malibu Times will update this story as more information becomes available.
