Extremely loud explosions were heard by Malibu residents early Friday evening in the western part of the city. Jangled nerves had some residents on edge who called the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station in a panic. The loud explosions were reported around 7 p.m. off Kanan Dume Road near Zumirez Drive. LASD is currently conducting an investigation of at least two juveniles who reportedly set off fireworks as they drove through Malibu and possibly into Westlake Village. A sheriff’s spokesperson says the department has a lead on the suspects. No one has been charged yet as the investigation is still pending.
