In an effort to encourage local girls to participate in sports, the City of Malibu Community Services Department started a social media campaign—”Play Like A Girl.” Community members are encouraged to share sports shots with the hashtag “#PlayLikeAGirlMalibu;” these images may then be shared on the city’s social media.
The department has also announced a new girls basketball league, to take place in the winter starting Dec. 1. Girls in kindergarten through eighth grades are encouraged to participate. Sign up online at malibucity.org/register by Oct. 12. Games will be held on Saturdays; a practice day has yet to be determined.
