Malibu officials deny that disgraced Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling’s property near Point Dume is on its way toward becoming a youth charity camp, as some of his recent advertisements in the Los Angeles Times have claimed.

This claim, along with other advertisements about Sterling’s charitable endeavors, came as part of a self-promotional rebranding campaign launched by Donald Sterling after he received a lifetime ban from the NBA following allegations of racism, according to the LA Times.

Not only has no proposal for the free summer camp been filed, but according to Malibu Planning Director Joyce Parker-Bozylinski, the property is not currently permitted to become a summer camp, as it is zoned “Rural Residential.” The land holding in question is located near Heathercliff Road and Pacific Coast Highway, and home to Vital Zuman Farm.

In order for the camp to be built, the zoning would have to be amended by the City of Malibu and possibly the California Coastal Commission.

Even if Sterling eventually gets the ranch rezoned and files an application, according to Parker-Bozylinski, the property consists of a combined 16 acres, or three-quarters of the advertised size.
