The California Coastal Commission on Wednesday approved both major Malibu projects presented to the 12-member state panel at the meeting in Oceanside. One project is the makeover of the Malibu Lagoon, which has pitted several environmentalist groups against each other. The other project calls for the enhancement of various local parks operated by the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy and its sister organization the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority with various features, including overnight camping.
