Malibu City Council recently approved the allocation of $100,000 of Community Development Block Grant funds to support efforts to address homelessness in LA County. The grants, which must be allocated for very specific purposes, come from the Los Angeles Community Development Commission.

The six-figure grant is to be split evenly between two LA County homeless aid organizations: Rapid Rehousing and Shelter Partnership. Each will receive $50,000 from the city, with funds being used in the West LA area.

“Homelessness is a humanitarian crisis, and the people of Malibu care deeply about finding ways to help people who are experiencing homelessness,” Mayor Lou La Monte said in a written statement provided by the City of Malibu. “These funds will go directly to assisting this extremely vulnerable population.”
