School Superintendent Ben Drati is yanking the proposed new name of “Malibu Ocean Elementary School” as the new name for the old school on Point Dume.

And is likely to come up Monday at the city council meeting … when the redesign and reconstruction of Civic Center Way is due to come up for discussion. A farmworker bus rolled over on Las Posas Road this morning … in the fields north of P C H.
It appears that only one person was injured.
The bus is upside down ion a field next to Las Posas Road.

When the Woolsey Fire hit the local area … the L A County government was in the middle of creating a new zoning standards plan for the Santa Monica Mountains region north of Mulholland Highway.
Those areas … the upper reaches of Kanan Dume and Malibu Canyon las Virgenes roads … are under intense urban pressure.
The Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning is updating its Santa Monica Mountains North Area Plan.
The plan was supposed to be unveiled last November … but the fire hit five days before the meeting.
The North Area Plan meeting has now been rescheduled for two weeks from now … Wednesday April Third … at the Topanga Library.

Malibu had a sunny and gorgeous day yesterday.. as L A and the Valley got whomped with rain and hail and wind.
There is a 20 percent chance of showers remaining in Malibu this morning.
Clearing this afternoon … next chance of rain is Tuesday.
In the surf … breakers of 4 to 7 feet will continue across west-facing beaches through this afternoon.

The new Malibu poet laureate will take the baton at a Call To The Wall Saturday.
Malibu’s first Poet Laureate, Ricardo Means-Ybarra, will introduce the City’s next Poet Laureate Ellen Reich.
Reich will influence, engage and promote the arts through 2021.
Poetry will be read by both Poet Laureates, Malibu student poets and special guest, Cecilia Woloch, an internationally recognized poet who has won multiple awards for her work.
Call to the Wall will also include children’s artwork influenced by Malibu artist, Ako Eyong, and a live musical performance by DEPAK.
Meet the artists and poets afterward at a free reception.
Sponsored by the LA County Library and City of Malibu. Hosted by the Malibu Cultural Arts Commission and Malibu Poet Laureate Committee.
