A female pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle while crossing Pacific Coast Highway after dark on Saturday, March 18. The incident marks the third death on Malibu’s busy main street since the month began.

Watch commanders with the Los Angeles County Office of Coroner identified the victim as 55-year-old Germaine Lathouwers, described as a hispanic female who lived in Van Nuys.

“[She was] crossing PCH when she was struck by the vehicle,” officials stated. As of Tuesday evening her autopsy had not been completed, so no cause of death could be provided. However, coroner’s officials stated she was transported from the scene and later declared dead at Northridge Medical Center.

Reports from KBU News stated the collision occurred Saturday night, with a call coming in to the sheriff’s department at 11:55 p.m. She was also said to have been crossing PCH across from Zuma Beach near Busch Drive.

No further information was available about Lathouwers’ life or the accident that ended it by the time The Malibu Times went to print Tuesday.
