The Malibu High School Sharks baseball team won two and lost one at the San Diego Lions Tournament during spring break. On April 2, the team beat Cathedral City High School and on April 3 defeated Chlua Vista High School before suffering a 7-6 loss April 4 to Linfield Christian School.

In the final game, Harry McAlevey started the game pitching while Noah Simon finished, with both pitching well. The Sharks were down 6-3, and after a couple defensive miscues, fought back to tie the game after a 12-pitch at-bat by Frank Thomas ended with a sharp single to center. Linfield Christian scrapped out a run in their final at-bat, and the Sharks fell in a hard fought game 7-6. Matt Gruskin went 10 for 13 with two doubles, six runs and seven RBIs, and pitched a complete game one run 5 hitter, earning all tournament honors.

Conference play resumes for the Sharks this week against Nordhoff High School.
