Jay Hamilton Scott

Jay Hamilton Scott died of natural causes at his home in Malibu on July 15 at the age of 60. He was born on Dec.12, 1956, in San Angelo, Texas, where he lived most of his life as a cowboy and an oilman. He also had an expansive ranch in Wyoming, another state that he dearly loved. In 2008, he retired and moved to Malibu.

“He loved riding his horses in the Malibu Hills and was deeply devoted to the Malibu community,” a loved one said. “He was a big supporter of local businesses and a dear friend to many. He made a point of knowing everyone’s name and had a way of making people feel special. He was a very kind man with deep appreciation of his life and close friends.”

Jay was an active member of the local Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his son, Ben Riley, and daughter Nicole.

“He will be missed by many,” a loved one said.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 12. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at his home in Malibu. Call Kimberly James at 310.977.4018 for more information.
