Five dehydrated hikers were rescued late Sunday night from Malibu Creek State Park, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Crews from the Malibu Search and Rescue squad and L.A. County Fire spent about 90 minutes searching for the hikers, who first called for help just before 10 p.m. on Easter. The group was found at 11:15 p.m. near Castro Peak and Bulldog motorways, officials said.

The hikers had gone too far and too long without water, fire authorities said, but were in good enough condition to not have to be airlifted from their location. They were taken back to their cars via ground transportation.
