High temperatures and a high surf advisory are expected in Malibu this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

Along the beach, temperatures will reach 78 degrees on Saturday and 79 degrees on Sunday, with low winds around 5 MPH.

A low temperature for the weekend is expected to stay around 65 degrees.

The high surf advisory begins Friday evening and will last throughout the weekend due to a storm near New Zealand.

Tropical Cyclone Norbert will follow directly behind and keep the high surf advisory in effect through Monday.

The National Weather Services warns of possible coastal flooding and risky swim and surf conditions, with waves expected to peak from four to seven feet, but possibly up to 10 feet.

Around town, Batman will celebrate his 75th birthday at Bank of Books for story time at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, followed by a reading and signing of William Knoedelseder’s works at 2 p.m. On Saturday, Pepperdine University will also hoist its flags on the Alumni Park lawn honoring victims of 9/11.Â
