More than 5,000 participants attended this year’s Nautica Malibu Triathlon, including a few who suffered injuries along the route.

The 29th annual Nautica Malibu Triathlon returns to Malibu this weekend, Sept. 19-20. The race, which is presented by Equinox, includes a half-mile Pacific Ocean swim, an 18-mile bike ride and a four-mile run.

Road closures for the event include closures to Busch Drive, Morning View Drive, Westward Beach Drive, the east side of Broad Beach Road and the northbound and southbound number 2 (outside) lanes of PCH, from 5:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on both days. Motorists are encouraged to find alternative routes due to anticipated increased traffic.

The three-course race will take place at Zuma Beach. Money raised at the event will go to the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles’ Pediatric Cancer Research Program. For more information, visit nauticamalibutri.com.
