I would like to thank the many Malibu residents who attended Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy’s public hearing regarding the ill-conceived Public Works Plan Proposal to assume control over 24 square miles of the City of Malibu. Special thanks to City Attorney Christi Hogin, Council members Pamela Ulich, Sharon Barovsky and Andy Stern, Paul Grisanti, representing the Malibu Realtors Association, and many individuals from Malibu communities not directly affected by this plan.
The highly respected board members of the SMMC and MRCA attentively listened to over 40 intelligent questions regarding: state pre-emption of local control over these properties; fire safety issues concerning overnight campsites in remote box canyons; placement of trails without input of the Malibu Trails Committee; water quality and traffic concerns resulting from more intensified public use of these ESHAS; and the peace, safety and serenity of two and four legged residents of Ramirez, Escondido and Corral Canyons. This was truly Malibu at its finest and we thank you!
Kathryn Holguin,
President, Ramirez Canyon Homeowners Association
