The Malibu Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) honored veterans of all branches at its 19th Women in Military Luncheon. This year’s specific program was a Vietnam commemorative event.
Among those recognized, Captain John Payne of the Malibu Navy League was given the Community Service Award and Madeleine Ward was honored with the DAR Good Citizen Award — an award given each year to an outstanding Malibu High School senior.
Vietnam veteran Kenneth R. Hughey was welcomed as an honored guest. His memoir, “Outlaw Lead,” recounts the 2,068 days he spent in a communist prison camp.
