On Sept. 6, volunteers visiting from throughout Southern California joined Pepperdine University staff, students and the Malibu community to plant nearly 3,000 flags for its annual “Waves of Flags” display, which honors lives lost on September 11, 2001. The flags represent both national and international victims.
Some who attended the event said prayers, others saluted, but all were honoring a moment in time when life and the U.S. were changed forever. “Waves of Flags” will be on display through Sept. 23.
Civil Air Patrol Cadets, Squadron 3, David Cabrera, Cameron Silber, Ian Monzon and Nicole Solorio help put up flags on Saturday.
