Shakespeare dominates the summer program projected by Theatricum Botanicum, the outdoor theater in Topanga Canyon. The season will include the Bard’s playful comedy, “As You Like It,” the political drama, “Macbeth,” and the troupe’s signature piece, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Other shows on the bill are Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s “The School for Scandal” and Eugene O’Neill’s “Long Day’s Journey Into Night.”
All the productions run in repertory, with “As You Like It” opening the season on June 1 and ending it on Sept. 28.
It is advisable to call 310.455.3723 to find out the complete schedule. The theater, which is located at 1419 North Topanga Canyon Blvd., is set in a hillside so audience members are advised to dress warmly and bring cushions for the benches.
Tickets are $28 for the lower tier and $20 for the upper tier with discounts for children, students and seniors.
“A Midsummer Night’s Fete Dinner” will be offered on Thursday evenings. Prices are $45 and $20 for children. This includes a buffet dinner and a performance of the play.
