Locals honored

The Malibu Community Emergency Response Team recently honored local members for their outstanding participation last year. Each honoree received a certificate and a copper service star in recognition of their efforts.

The Los Angeles City Fire Department developed the CERT program in 1985. Since then, the program has been adopted and enhanced by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the National Fire Academy. CERT aims to provide basic safety training and lifesaving skills to the public.

More information about CERT can be obtained by calling 310.456.2489 ext. 260.

The Malibu Times is the first newspaper in Malibu, serving the community since 1946.
