Santa Monica-Malibu resident Leigh Hamilton died Sept. 8 at the age of 62 at St. John’s Hospital in Los Angeles, where she spent her final moments among family and friends.

Hamilton was born Dec. 20, 1949 in Auckland, New Zealand to Colleen and Derek Hiene.

Hamilton influenced many through her passion for the arts as a gallery owner and actress. She owned the successful Hamilton Galleries in Santa Monica and appeared in movies like “A Man, a Woman, and a Bank” and “Gas Food Lodging.” In addition to art and acting, Hamilton enjoyed reading, swimming in the ocean, and spending time with family and friends.

“When Leigh walked into a room, everyone felt her presence,” Hamilton’s family wrote. “With her vivacious personality and strikingly beautiful features, it was easy to be captivated by her. She was not only graceful, but intuitively intelligent and she possessed a heart big enough to care for all.”

Hamilton is survived by her four brothers, her husband of 19 years, Warren Long, and her daughter Tallulah.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Education Fund of Tallulah Long c/o Warren Long, 1431 Ocean Ave., Suite 1800, Santa Monica, CA, 90401.
