
Malibu Middle School student Ben Holmes, 13, has been selected as an all-star by the Pacific Youth Football League as a left tackle for the Senior Division. Holmes was the only seventh-grader selected for the squad, which consists of players up to 15 years old who are not yet in high school.
Holmes played for the South team Dec. 10 at Calabasas High School, joining players from Calabasas, Westlake Village, Simi Valley, Newbury Park, Santa Clarita, Burbank and Castaic.
In addition to the South team, Holmes plays for the North Los Angeles team as an offensive left tackle and a defensive end. The North team consists of players from Ventura, Oxnard, Camarillo, Calabasas, Westlake, Santa Clarita, Thousand Oaks, Burbank and Simi. They played all-star teams from San Diego and Orange County on Sunday at Cathedral High School stadium, and the team may go on to compete nationally
Holmes has also been selected as a Seventh Grade All Star by the elite Football University and will play in the FBU national tournament.
Additionally, Holmes has been invited to attend the Eastbay Youth All-American Bowl in the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas in January.
Holmes played during the regular season for The Agoura Chargers Senior Team on offense, defense and as the long snapper on special teams.
