John Clark Gable, who was arrested for DUI after a multi-vehicle hit-and-run crash Tuesday, says he was not under the influence of alcohol during the crash.

John Clark Gable, the son of actor Clark Gable, was charged last week with two misdemeanors for driving under the influence and hit-and-run. The charges stem from an April driving spree when he allegedly collided with seven cars on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.

Gable was taking prescription medication at the time of the crash, according to TMZ, and told the site he had fallen asleep behind the wheel just before crashing.

The incident began on April 2 when Gable apparently rear-ended a white Mercedes-Benz at the intersection of Cross Creek Road and PCH.

Gable, driving a white Ford Raptor pickup truck, continued driving, pursued by the driver of the Mercedes, who called sheriff’s deputies.

Next, Gable allegedly hit six cars, including rear-ending a white passenger van and sideswiping a green Land Rover. Both of those vehicles were parked on the eastbound side of PCH. The crash ended when Gable rammed into the back of a black BMW parked in a driveway in the 21300 block of PCH. The force of the crash pushed the BMW into the garage door of the home. Gable’s truck ended up losing its front left tire and got stuck on the rear end of the BMW. All told, Gable collided with one moving car (the Mercedes) and six parked cars, a press release stated.

Sources told TMZ prison time is unlikely.
