Malibu Civic Center to host adult acting classes

The City of Malibu Parks and Recreation Department will offer an 8-week acting class at the Malibu Civic Theater in Malibu City Hall, according to a city release.

The class will meet every Wednesday beginning Jan. 30 at 7 p.m. and is open to adults 18 and over. The class is officially titled, “Life Stories – An Introduction to Acting,” and will incorporate improvisational games, text analysis, character development and teaching acting through participants’ life stories.

The class will be led by Scott Alan Smith who holds an M.F.A. in Acting from the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. Smith who is currently an adjunct theatre professor at Pepperdine University is an accomplished actor, director, and writer. His acting credits include “True Blood,” “Entourage” and “CSI: NY.”

The cost for the 8-week class is $205.
