[Updated, 12:51 p.m.] A 25-year-old Malibu native was killed Monday night in an accident on Interstate 5 in Bakersfield, Bakersfield Now reported.
The victim, identified as Jay Ogawa, died at the scene after the Toyota he was riding in drove off the roadway and overturned just before 9 p.m. The driver, 34-year-old Eunice Lee from Torrance, suffered minor injuries.
The crash happened as Lee attempted to change lanes in the path of another car, according to the California Highway Patrol. Four people were riding in the other car and three passengers “suffered injuries ranging from minor to major.” The driver was not harmed.
