One female driver miraculously walked away on Monday with minor injuries when her car overturned after she allegedly side-swiped two other vehicles in eastern Malibu and lost control.

Investigators found at least three beer cans in the car (see photos) and suspect alcohol played a role in the crash. No one else was traveling with the driver, who was transported to West Hills Hospital shortly after the crash on Monday around 11 a.m., according to Dep. Mike Treinen of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station.

The details were not entirely clear yet, but investigators and witnesses told the The Malibu Times that the black Lexus SUV was traveling westbound on Pacific Coast Highway and hit at least two cars parked on the side of PCH at East Rambla Pacifico, in front of the retail center home to Malibu Liquor and Malibu Country Kitchen.

Witnesses said the driver was trapped upside down in her car for a short time, but firefighters extracted her and she was able to stand up on her own and move her arms and legs. She also suffered minor cuts, Treinen said.

Traffic was backed up in all directions and both westbound lanes were closed at the scene. A tow trucked arrived shortly after 12 p.m. and was expected to help clear the scene and open up traffic once again. Westbound cars were being diverted through the front of the Malibu Liquor/Country Kitchen center. Eastbound traffic was not shut down but major slowing occurred.

An investigation is under way into the cause of the crash and official are expected to conduct drug and alcohol tests.
