A 21-year-old female who was struck and killed by a limousine in front of Moonshadows restaurant in Malibu on Saturday has been identified as Sarah Salam, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office.

Just hours before her death, Salam posted a photo on Instagram of her enjoying a drink from the Moonshadows deck. According to her Facebook page, Salam worked in the fashion industry and attended school in the United Kingdom before moving to Los Angeles in March 2012.

Salam, who hailed from Germany, was hit by the limo as she and a male friend attempted to cross Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) to get to a parked car on the north side of the road.

Salam was walking in the number two westbound lane of PCH when the limo driver accidentally struck her, according to traffic Det. Richard Curry of  Malibu/Lost Hills.

Initially, authorities said the limo driver was attempting to make a left onto PCH out of the Moonshadows parking lot while the male and female stood in the center median.

The accident shut down PCH from just before 9 p.m. on Saturday until 2 a.m. on Sunday morning. The limo driver was questioned but no arrest was made. Braden said the investigation is ongoing and it does not appear alcohol or drugs played a factor.
