Christian Pierce

The Malibu Rotary Club’s Oct. 28 meeting featured a guest appearance from 16-year-old cancer survivor and Malibu native Christian Pierce.

Pierce was chosen by the Rotary Club to attend last April’s Rotary Youth Leadership Assembly (RYLA) in Blue Jay. He spoke about his experience at the RYLA camp and about how he has turned negatives in his life into positives by turning his Make-a-Wish request to be in a movie into a successful acting career.

At age six, Pierce was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer and underwent a six-month rigorous treatment regimen at St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis. He now returns to the hospital annually, where he has become a popular speaker and a successful fundraiser for the organization that helped save his life.

The high schooler is currently cancer free and attends film school in pursuit of his dream to become a professional actor.
