The Malibu High baseball team’s impressive run through the playoffs ended last Saturday with a 4-2 loss to Temple City in the CIF Southern Section Division 5 title game at Cal State Fullerton. Temple City scored three runs in the fifth inning to secure the victory.
To reach the championship game, Malibu won four consecutive games.
The Sharks defeated Rancho Alamitos, 2-0, in the opening round of the playoffs on May 18 and then knocked off Rim of the World, 4-0, in the second round on May 22. Three days later, Malibu beat Sunny Hills, 4-0, in the quarterfinals, then defeated Garey, 6-4, in the semifinals on May 25.
The Sharks finished the season with a 16-13 record overall and a 6-6 record in the Tri-Valley League.
