The Malibu Optimist Club recently held a writing contest at the Los Angeles County Camp Miller-Kilpatrick Juvenile Detention Facility in Malibu. The club held its weekly meeting at the facility and presented the awards during an assembly. The winner who wrote a poem titled “War of the Dead,” received a $150 Target gift card.

The club also presented all participants with a gift card of lesser amounts. The club teaming with Sports Chalet also donated more than $500 in sports equipment that was desperately needed by the facility.
