I want to tell you why I’m voting for Doug Stewart for Malibu City Council member in this upcoming election.
The oldest cliché in politics is that we are at the “biggest crossroad of Malibu’s 30-year history.” Cliché or not, this time it’s the truth! Our challenge is to maintain our quality of life and balance our rapidly changing financial situation because of the Woolsey Fire disaster and the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of those two events, our financial situation in Malibu has been forever changed.
In the fiscal year 2021, we will be facing a deficit. Doug has lived and hiked in one of our most beautiful canyons for the last 20 years. He loves and knows how to protect our environment. He also knows the new enemy of our beloved mountains and our environment. There is an outside force from the State of California trying to take over our precious mountains and mangle our environment. There are so many people in the environment now that it’s being loved to death, just like Yosemite. Doug Stewart has unique financial and environmental credentials to solve this problem.
Elections are about the future.
