Topanga Canyon Blvd Closed Due to Mudslide

Crews respond to a mudslide on Topanga Canyon Boulevard.

A mudslide caused by heavy rains has closed Topanga Canyon Boulevard, from Pacific Coast Highway to Grand View Drive on Friday, March 2. According to Caltrans District 7 public information officer Michael Comeaux, there is no estimated reopen time for the approximately 3.5-mile stretch, as of 11:58 p.m.

“That area is susceptible to mudslides,” Comeaux said in a phone call with¬†The Malibu Times, adding that the department’s maintenance people are on the scene and investigating.¬†

The area was closed due to mudslide early January following the first storm of 2018.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory until 1:30 p.m. on March 2. Malibu will see rain into Saturday night, March 3.
