A mudslide caused by heavy rains has closed Topanga Canyon Boulevard, from Pacific Coast Highway to Grand View Drive on Friday, March 2. According to Caltrans District 7 public information officer Michael Comeaux, there is no estimated reopen time for the approximately 3.5-mile stretch, as of 11:58 p.m.

“That area is susceptible to mudslides,” Comeaux said in a phone call with The Malibu Times, adding that the department’s maintenance people are on the scene and investigating.

The area was closed due to mudslide early January following the first storm of 2018.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory until 1:30 p.m. on March 2. Malibu will see rain into Saturday night, March 3.

This will be updated as we receive more information.
