About eight years ago, my wife and I decided to spend our summer vacation driving the California coast between San Francisco and Los Angeles. As we approached the final leg of our journey, we decided to make an unscheduled stop in Malibu, spending the night at a rather unassuming hotel along the highway called Casa Malibu.Â
Within minutes of arriving we felt at peace. The charm and beauty of the courtyard was absolutely breathtaking, and as most Malibu residents know, the beachfront was like nothing we had ever seen. With three days left in our trip, we decided to spend the remaining time enjoying our amazing discovery. Every summer since we’ve returned to spend our vacation at the Casa Malibu, and would also steal away as many times as possible each year to enjoy its beauty. On the patio of the motel, we’ve had some wonderful conversations with visitors from all over the world, many of whom shared an equal enthusiasm for this extraordinary place.Â
Thanks so much to Richard and Joan Page for the special experiences, to the maids (some who worked there for more than 20 years), and of course the always smiling groundskeeper who took such pride in performing his daily chores. Thanks also to the people of Malibu for welcoming us to your wonderful community. Casa Malibu truly changed our lives. We’ll always treasure the memories.Â
