Trisha Raniewicz and Mallorie Winn have been hired as assistant coaches for the Pepperdine women’s basketball team. The new hires round out the coaching staff for the 2013-2014 season.

“We are really excited about this coaching staff as a whole,” first-year coach Ryan Weisenberg said in a statement. “All of them will do a phenomenal job of developing players and putting them in a position to succeed on the court and in the classroom.”

The hires round out the staff of Weisenberg, who served as an assistant last year to former head coach Julie Rousseau. Rousseau resigned in April after nine seasons at Pepperdine on the heels of a 5-23 season.

Raniewicz graduated from Cal State University San Bernardino in 2003 and has spent the past five seasons as the associate head coach at Cerritos College. Prior to that, she served as head coach at LaSalle High School in Pasadena and as assistant coach at Menlo College.

“I feel blessed to be here on a campus with such high standards in terms of faith and academics,” Raniewicz said. “It has been a very positive experience coming in and getting to know the team. This is a group of great young women and I’m looking forward to building the program and getting out there to recruit more student-athletes who represent all the wonderful aspects of Pepperdine University.”

Winn has spent the past three seasons on the staff of coach Agnus Berenato at the University of Pittsburgh, where she was a standout player. She helped Pitt get a top-20 recruiting class during her first season at the school and worked with three perimeter players earning All-Big East accolades. Before joining the staff at Pitt, Winn served as a volunteer assistant at Saddleback College during the 2009-10 season.

“I am very excited to join a new staff that brings experience from diverse backgrounds,” Winn said. “We are strongly committed to Pepperdine’s mission of fostering personal growth while excelling academically and athletically. I am thrilled to be a part of an amazing team and community.”
